USB C Replacement Guide for A1 Mini
This guide explains when and how to replace the A1 Mini’s USB C cable, including removing the faulty cable, installing a new one, and addressing issues such as the tool head not being detected as recommended by Bambu Lab Support.
Step 1: Remove the USB-C Cable from the Print Head
Remove the four screws securing the USB-C cable on the A1 Mini tool head, then pull the cable upward to detach it; note the connector’s orientation and rear alignment groove, as the new cable must be installed in the same position with the line on the connector facing the back of the printer.
Step 2: Remove the A1 Mini Motor Cover
Pull the front motor cover from the bottom toward you to release the clips and access the USB-C cable.
Step 3: Remove the Motor Housing Screws and Webcam Cable
Disconnect the webcam cable indicated by the red arrow, then remove the three motor housing screws— noting that screw number 1 differs from the other two—so you can access the clips on the back of the grey wire attachment and release the wires.
Step 4: Remove the Motor Housing and Wire Clip
Push the wires upward to make removing the motor housing easier, then gently pull the motor cover toward you; once removed, press the two clips on the wire attachment—using a hex wrench tip if needed—to release it, pull the wire attachment out, and finally pry off the USB-C cable clip on top of the motor housing with a small flat tool.
Step 5: Remove the Printer’s Bottom Housing Cover
Place the printer on its side with the Z-axis pillar facing the table, then remove the 16 screws securing the bottom cover—keeping track of screws 15 and 16, as they are different—before gently prying the plastic cover loose starting from the top right and working around the edges.
Step 6: Remove the USB-C Cable Bracket and Disconnect It
With the bottom cover removed, unscrew the USB-C cable bracket that secures the cable to the mainboard, then gently pull the connector to the right to disconnect it, taking care not to bend the cable to avoid damaging the board’s USB port.
Step 7: Prepare the Cable for Removal
Remove the tape securing the mesh around the USB-C cable, then detach the grey plastic wire clip; next, unclip and remove the ferrite core—taking note of its original position for proper placement on the new cable—while keeping in mind that if the ferrite core cannot be removed and your replacement cable does not include one, the printer will still function normally.
Step 8: Remove the USB-C Cable from the Wire Mesh
Gently pull the USB-C cable while guiding it through the wire mesh, then feed it through the motor housing hole to fully remove it; once the cable is out, the removal process is complete and you can proceed with installing the new USB-C cable.
